The following six items must be submitted no later than November 28, 2011 at midnight (central time). Late or multiple submissions will not be accepted. Selected Fellows
will be announced in 2012.
Applicants must fill out the online
application form. The form
also allows for the electronic submission of your supporting
documents (Curriculum Vitae, Research Plan, Research

The Curriculum Vitae must be submitted as an Adobe PDF file using the upload form mentioned above.
(3) Research Plan
A description of the research problems you intend to focus on initially,
if you are selected as a Beckman Institute Fellow. This section should
not exceed three single-spaced pages. The Research Plan must be submitted
as an Adobe PDF file using the upload form mentioned above.
(4) Research Justification
A description of the relationship of your research to Beckman Institute research programs, including identification of specific faculty members with whom you intend to associate and needs for experimental facilities or other resources. Faculty members at the University of Illinois who are possible research collaborators, but who are not Beckman Institute faculty, may also be mentioned. It is strongly recommended that you contact in advance one or more of the faculty with whom you might collaborate. This section should not exceed two single-spaced pages. The Research Justification must be submitted as an Adobe PDF file using the upload form mentioned above.
(5) Representative Paper (Optional)
If you have published, you may submit no more than one article. If you have not published, one introductory or representative chapter, or an extended abstract (not to exceed five pages), of your dissertation may be substituted. Do not submit additional articles or chapters; only one will be passed on to the selection committee. The Representative Paper must be submitted as an Adobe PDF file using the upload form mentioned above.
(6) Letters of Reference
In addition to the above materials, you should request letters of reference
from three individuals familiar with your research. Please have

the address below. The deadline for letters of reference is also November 28, 2011 at midnight (central time). No faxed copies of the recommendation letters
will be accepted. Original letters must be mailed to the address
