Jonathan Sweedler received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1988. He is a Lycan Professor in the Department of Chemistry, the Bioengineering Program, the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, the Neuroscience Program, is the Director of the University of Illinois Biotechnology Center, and is a part-time faculty member in the Beckman Institute's NeuroTech groups. His fields of professional interest are the neurochemistry of neuropeptides and indoleamines, and the development of new technology for assaying the cellular microenvironment using capillary separations, single cell mass spectrometry, and nanoliter volume NMR spectroscopy.
